| ReadPlay
is the website for The Benefactory, publisher of
children's books, audiotapes, plush toys and video
cassettes. Children who are read to, learn to love
reading, so ReadPlay provides on-line storytellings
with renowned musician, Tom Chapin. ALL children
love true stories about real living animals. ReadPlay
also provides creative activities, word games, opportunities
to chat with our talent, and the opportunity for
children to be published. We welcome feedback from
families, teachers, librarians, storytelling mentors
and volunteers, and especially, children. |

In
1997, The Benefactory's authors and illustrators were
invited by The America Reads Challenge to read our true
stories to schoolchildren at the fourteen pilot sites.
We read stories aloud to over 27,000 children that year! |

| The
Benefactory has worked with several large volunteer groups,
including the Girl Scouts of The USA and Retired Senior
Volunteers (RSVP) to design a mentoring readaloud program
that trains voluteers to schedule and host effective,
fun, educational readaloud sessions for groups of younger
children. Included in our storytelling kits are lending
libraries of storybooks, so children may follow along
with the storyteller.
