become an excellent read er
empowers a child to travel, learn, create,
and communicate. Children learn to love
to read from being read to. The warm, shared
experience of reading aloud together generates
a love of reading.
Our
storytelling programs are intended to inspire
older children and volunteers to read to
groups of younger children. This takes commitment
and generosity of spirit. Any older child
that reads to a younger child becomes a
hero, a big sister or brother. Any older
reader that takes the time to read with
young people inspires literacy and motivates
reading.
