Ray Bartkus, illustrator of Freefall, A Sea Turtle Falls from the Sky (2000), has exhibited in art galleries and museums around the world. His illustrations have appeared in a number of magazines, and Freefall was his third children's book. He has received The Merit Award of Achievement from the Society of Publication Designers. Ray is originally from Lithuania, and now lives in New York City with his wife and son.
